| Bio: | I really hate the "about me" sections on websites. I'm supposed to sit down and in so many characters describe myself with enough detail as to make strangers want to be my virtual friends. Well, that's not gonna happen. Why? Simple. Because whatever I say about myself- be it my good qualities, pet peeves, downfalls or shortcomings- is probably not what others would say about me. Your perception of me is completely dependent upon your personal life experiences, biases, and preferences. For example, I think I'm sweet, kind, and caring, but my boss recently called me ornery. We should also realize (as my favorite tv character Gregory House likes to say), people lie. Yes, we lie, exaggerate, pretend, hallucinate, fantasize, whatever it takes to make us feel good. We may not intend to hurt others, but we do. For example, during my online dating phase I met a woman who's profile was perfect. We had a lot in common, she lived fairly close, except she hadn't posted a picture (her personal description was perfect - voluptuous and curvy, dark hair, best feature her eyes and smile, good hygiene, basically everything I was looking for). So a message or two later, I asked her to post a photo. Well, she didn't have any teeth, her hair was dirty blond, and by voluptuous and curvy she meant fat and shapeless (I don't have a problem with her weight at all, but at least be honest about it). So I guess what I'm trying to say is, rather than being really cliche or lying, I'm gonna let you read my LJ in order to determine what kind of person I am. But remember, what you see is never what you get. A good friend of mine once wrote: "Praise is ever on my lips and in my breath and in my blood and my heart's beating. I bless the Source of all Blessing. I have so much to be grateful for; let every moment I live be an offering in thanks." Ditto. | |
